The background...
This statement necklace features a repurposed 1940s to early 1950s vintage locket in the form of a brooch. Sadly, the clasp was broken, so it wouldn’t stay closed. I reworked it as a pendant, allowing the locket to remain functional. Inside, there are two frames to hold photographs or other mementoes, which can be accessed by lifting the central brass ring at the side nearest the hinge. I created the chain with semi-precious Pyrite and Obsidian beads.
Pyrite has long been valued as a strong protection stone that shields the wearer from negative energy, while Obsidian is said to symbolise truth, protection, and grounding.
