The background...

This elegant necklace is designed to close at the front. It features a vintage pāua shell brooch fragment which I’ve suspended from a spring ring clasp sourced from a vintage warehouse in New York. The chain features hand-knotted pāua shell beads and freshwater pearls.

Pāua shell reflects the ever-changing colours of the ocean and in Māori culture symbolises change and transition.
